My career has always been driven by my love for the outdoors, with a constant desire to share its many benefits with as many people as possible. My job nowadays as Head of Activities is extremely varied which is what I really enjoy, but I get the greatest satisfaction from being able to share my knowledge, skills and experience with the amazing South West Lakes Trust activity team who I’m very privileged to lead. Matt Loughlin, Stithians Activity Centre Manager My name is Matt Loughlin and I've worked for South West Lakes Trust on and off since 2000. I started sailing when I was about 4 and loved being on the water. When I was a bit older I got into windsurfing and various other watersports. When I started secondary school I knew I wanted to work in the watersports industry and started working towards instructor qualifications. The rest is history! Read more Hannah Mason, Roadford Activity Centre Manager I have recently taken over from Matt at Roadford as Centre manager and am looking forward to meeting all the members, working with the staff team and getting stuck into my new role! I started teaching watersports at Siblyback Lake as a weekend job whilst at school, before spending a few years working in various locations abroad. Most recently I have been teaching at Falmouth Marine School, both in the classroom and on the water to deliver instructor training courses. In my spare time I enjoy wing foiling / windsurfing, running and trying to stay upright on my mountain bike! Before that I worked for South West Lakes Trust as Exmoor Administrator, also as part of the activities team at Wimbleball Activity Centre. I love the outdoors and in my spare time I enjoy surfing off the north coast of Devon and Somerset. I am also very creative and love getting involved in ideas for getting more people enthused about getting active in the outdoors. Tom Holloway, Siblyback Activities and Camping Supervisor From a young age, I enjoyed staying indoors and playing video games. It was only when I moved to the South West in 2018 that I realised I loved exploring the outdoors and staying active. After trying out university, I worked for two years with the NHS before starting an outdoor activities apprenticeship at Mount Batten. The following year I worked with NCS (National Citizen Service) at Siblyback and Roadford, which is how I met the South West Lakes Trust team. I went to school in Falmouth and after completing A Levels in Maths and Photography decided that I didn’t want to work indoors, so I started a Level 3 Diploma in outdoor education at Falmouth Marine School.
